MODULES
A common question asked during training courses is; “How long will an EDI module last?" There is no easy answer to this, but module lifetime is definitely linked to both the feed water quality and the system design. Systems with poor pretreatment, and hence poor feed water quality, can last a matter of hours. There are a number of examples where free chlorine, (at ppm levels), has been poorly removed by the pretreatment and has caused irreversible oxidative damage in less than 24 hours. Equally, there are even more examples where a well-designed system, with good pretreatment, and two pass RO, have lasted 10+ years. There is a module on record installed in Scandinavia which still gave better than 0.1uS/cm after 19 years.
It is inevitable however that at some time modules will require replacement. CEDITS Ltd is a provider of IONPURE® Products, sourced directly from Evoqua Water Technologies, (formerly Siemens Water Technologies).
